This drawing was made for my printmaking class I took. The prompt was juxtaposition, and one of the options was free will and fate, so I thought that would be interesting. I had a lot of ideas for this concept that revolved around Jesus to represent fate and the Sims Plumbob to represent free will. Even though Sims don’t really have free will, it’s up to the player to decide the Sims’ fate. I ended up taking inspiration from Lorde’s Solar Power album to title the piece “Prettier Jesus”. I kept a limited color palette and the colors were chosen were determined by the available ink. I really enjoy this piece, especially its existence as a multicolor block print and believe it has conceptual depth and multilayered meaning.
