This illustration was made in Adobe Fresco for my digital illustration class. We had to illustrate a book dust jacket for Yann Martel’s Life of Pi. I wanted to challenge myself to not draw pi or the boat, so I leaned into the ornamental designs in Hindu art. I wanted the cover to represent the story in a non-obvious way and depict the themes of religion and spirituality. The colors were chosen to represent the themes of duality from the book.
