Jason and the Golden Fleece

This illustration was created in Adobe Fresco. I made it for an assignment in my digital illustration class, where we had to draw an argonaut since UWF’s mascot is an argonaut. I did research on Jason and the Argonauts to better understand what I should illustrate. I was heavily inspired by Ancient Greek pottery for the composition and themes. At first, I was going to keep it black and orange, but it evolved to have colors and textures. I wanted to include different aspects of the story, such as Jason losing one of his sandals, being attacked by harpies, and eventually retrieving the Golden Fleece. This illustration was definitely an exploration of textures, from which I learned a lot and realized how important textures are, especially in digital work.
